Joanne enjoyed a variety of experiences studying and teaching in different locations around England before moving to Thailand. She studied at Nottingham Trent University where she graduated with a First-Class BA Honours in Primary Education with QTS and an Advanced Diploma with Commendation in Leading Early Years Practice. She returned to Nottingham Trent University to gain a Masters accredited National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination (SENCO).

Joanne started her teaching career as a Reception teacher in a village in Nottingham and then moved to a Junior School located in an old mining community on the outskirts of Derbyshire. At this school, she was a class teacher, SENDCo and Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), running a unique classroom within a mainstream school setting supporting children aged 7-11 with special educational needs.

Joanne, so named by children Miss Mc has now worked at Kensington for five years. Her journey with us started as a Reception Lead Teacher and SENDCo and she is now our Pastoral Assistant Headteacher, with responsibility overseeing Early Years and Primary as SENDCo and DSL and managing the Specialist Teachers.
