Nursery

Children aged 3 – 4 years will attend 5 days per week. 8.00 a.m. – 2.00 p.m.
Children in the Nursery classes will follow the EYFS, however in addition to the three prime areas focused on in the Toddler classes there will now be more emphasis on the revised specific areas of the framework; Literacy, Numeracy, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design, thus giving equal importance to all areas of learning.

Smooth transitions are still an important consideration for our Nursery children and the key person system remains in place with strong links being developed between home and school. For children moving from our Toddler class to the Nursery class a transition process will take place before the start of the new academic year.

As children develop so do their interests and fascinations. We capture the spirit of each child’s interests and accommodate these into our planning. The themes are used to complement and extend the learning following the children’s own ideas. Some of the areas in which children become interested in at this age include; Dinosaurs, Mini-Beasts, Fairytales and Space. All seven areas of learning can be incorporated in to these themes.
