What a super week we have had in both Under 3s and Over 3s classrooms.
Under 3s have been learning all about looking after themselves, healthy eating and becoming more independent. This is such an important area of learning in the EYFS.
Creche brought in their toothbrushes from home and all practised brushing their teeth after snack. On Friday they got dressed in their PE kits ready for Soft Gym!
Toddler 1 also focused on teeth brushing and learnt some new songs on how to do this more effectively. In the creative area they used toothbrushes to clean cardboard teeth too. Toddler 2 made and ate delicious fruit kebabs using mango, pineapple, watermelon and papaya. Yum yum! Toddler 3 had a wonderful week of tasting fruits including pineapple, grapes, oranges and bananas. They also used them to make a lovely fruit display on their classroom window.
Over 3s really got into the swing of recycling used cardboard, paper and plastic.
Nursery 1 went all musical and made their own instruments which they used during a Nursery sing a long in the track area. Nursery 2 went with a Christmas theme and made their own Christmas tree! I gather they will be making all the decorations themselves next week.
Reception really “went to town” with their individually created superhero models. Each one was different and made with a great deal of though and care.
Year 1 were an example to us all by creating their own reusable shopping bags with individual logos and recycling messages. They also produced well thought out and “catchy” recycling posters which we hope to use in our recycling area by the entrance gate to encourage everyone to recycle the whole year round.
On Friday parents and children from the whole school were invited to look at these creations in the Recycling Exhibition. All of the classrooms were jam packed with parents amazed and inspired with the children’s work. Fantastic!
On the theme of recycling, we were delighted to accept three brand new and child friendly recycling bins from IVL Foundation, Thailand. The bins will be available for all students and parents to use and will take plastics, paper, card and cans. The Foundation will empty and collect as soon as the bins are full and take the material to be recycled properly free of charge.
It is a marvelous way for us all to get into the recycling habit and the more of us that do so, the more sustainable the world will become.
